The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Community Programs and Services, this position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of a variety of services within the Community Programs and Services Division. Overall responsibilities include but are not limited to; recruitment and retention of casual staff, recreation satellite facility supervision, evaluation and implementation of policies and procedures, staff supervision and coordination of other physical and personnel resources as required.

Accountabilities

• Supervise, monitor and evaluate performance and activities of personnel working in assigned areas.
• Work closely with Human Resources in the hiring of casual employees for the Community Services Department, and other areas as required.
• Oversee, the development, implementation and evaluation of leadership, training and orientation initiatives within the department.
• Manage maintenance requests, bookings and scheduling associated with satellite recreation facilities.
• Ensure all facility safety standards and OHS policies and procedures are applied and enforced.
• Manage facility statistical reports, quality assurance and risk management activities.
• Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of the municipal crossing guard program and volunteer services.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and the tracking, monitoring and approval of expenditures and revenues.
• Research and prepare proposals and reports on assigned project initiatives, including grant applications.
• Establish and sustain liaison networks with community, corporate, stakeholder groups and individuals.
• Analyze emerging trends and demands to enhance and optimize Division programming and services.
• Provide administrative and consultative support to program/project committees, and program staff.
• Perform other administrative and supervisory functions as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from University with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Business or related discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in recreation programming and services, and recreation facility operations.
• Must have experience in operational planning, team leadership and stakeholder engagement, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong analytical, supervisory, and organizational skills. Must possess demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and an ability to deal with the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
Candidates possessing an equivalent combination of education and experience which is deemed to be acceptable by the City may be considered.

Hours of Work

Monday - Friday 9:00AM to 4:30 PM
