Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Migration Lead to join our team for an exciting enterprise resource planning (ERP) project within a provincial government organization. As the Data Migration Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful migration of data from legacy systems to the new ERP platform. What will you be doing?

Data Migration Lead on the Data Team within the ERP Program.

Key responsibilities of this position are:

  • Providing leadership and guidance to the Data Migration team, consisting of a technical lead, developers, data analysts, and business analysts.
  • Develop and implement an ERP Platform data architecture that aligns GNBâ??s technology investments, business visions & enterprise strategies
  • Provide strategic advice and direction to the ERP Business Owner, ERP System Owner, will enhance support to departmental and GNB/SNB goals and objectives, in a cost-efficient manner
  • Review current and previously solicited functional business requirements and system requirements and contribute to or develop new business and technical solutions
  • Review and assess current and previous documentation deliverables for continuous improvement/addition
  • Ensure defined project strategies and methodologies are applied and allow for support and alignment of ERP business objectives, business solution and delivery with information technology
  • As a member of the Architecture team, the Enterprise Data Strategist is responsible for the ERP data architecture, as well as contributing to and advising on all other areas of architecture, such as business, integration, technical, enterprise and solutions.
  • Working with business and implementors to ensure the analysis, documentation and development of business requirements meet business needs and supports functional operations
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve processes and procedures to ensure optimum use of data strategies applied, including implementing identified lessons learned
  • Planning and oversight of all data migration activities throughout the project for multiple releases in the area of Finance, HR and Payroll, and Procurement.
  • Ensuring milestones and deliverables are met for each migration phase/release.
  • Act as the escalation point for issues, and coordinate resources necessary to mitigate risks and bring resolution to issues.
  • Advise the data migration technical lead on changing priorities that need to be accommodated throughout the team
  • Ensuring the data migration team has all requirements fulfilled for success, including documentation such as legacy data dictionaries, value mapping, field mapping, etc.
  • Work with the data migration technical lead to ensure development, system maintenance and support activities adhere to policies, standards, processes and procedures and provide guidance to GNBâ??s key systems and data sources
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an enterprise taxonomy

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidates must possess:

  • A university degree in Computer Science, a community college diploma or a related discipline with a minimum of six (6) years of recent progressive experience in data architecture.
  • 3 years of supervision/lead experience

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in data architecture
  • Experience in data modeling
  • Experience with data migration (E-T-L) design, development and implementation
  • Experience in large data migration projects
  • Systems Development and/or Maintenance Experience
  • Computer programming and familiarity with a variety of development environments, technologies, and methodologies
  • Experience with the application development lifecycle
  • Experience with Solution Delivery methodologies
  • Experience Solution Architecture, Design and Testing
  • Experience in Data Warehouse and Historical Data Repository
  • Experience in creating data policies, standards and quality practices
