About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the perioperative team to provide specialized nursing care within Surgical Services at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. The Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards while practicing in accordance with the LG Model of Clinical Nursing Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
? Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
? Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
? Surgical Services Education Program or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
? Successful completion of NRP,ACLS,TNCC, or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
? Breastfeeding education/course;
? Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
? Preference will be given to the candidate with current OR experience and/or a recognized post basic course;
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;
Duties: (Include but not limited to)
? Provides safe nursing care to clients in the Endoscopy and Surgical Suites, and Day Surgery;
? Completes an accurate record of care throughout the client?s stay in Surgical Services;
? Completes inventory of unit narcotics and controlled drugs;
? Be familiar with the operation of the equipment in the Endoscopy and Operating Suites, and Day Surgery;
? Assesses equipment function and report malfunctions;
? Maintaisn a safe level of supplies;
? Other related duties as required.
