Additional Working Conditions:

  • Participation in on-call rotational schedule to support student staff members after hours will be expected.

Salary Range: $49,060 - $63,775 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Residence, the Community Standards Coordinator supports the behaviour management and conduct practices of the residence communities by overseeing the administration of the Residence Resolution Process on both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses.

  • Serve as a point of contact for university students, faculty, and staff, regarding residence student conduct policies, procedures, regulations, and enforcement.
  • Read, prioritize, and assign all Incident Reports to the appropriate staff member or triages reports to appropriate campus partners.
  • Facilitate all steps of the Residence Resolution Process, including complaint intake, fact-finding, decision-making, and outcome selection for complex and/or higher-level conduct issues.
  • Prepare briefing materials and case summaries for the required members of the Residence Senior Management Team.
  • Create, update, and maintain student conduct files, ensuring record management and document storage practices comply with government regulatory policies.
  • Create semester-end and year-end reports and generate conduct statistics to assess trends as well as evaluate key performance indicators such as recidivism.
  • Update and maintain conduct publications and maintain an accurate list of all Residence Bans.
  • Track all student conduct outcomes and sanctions and provide quality control to all educational sanctions.
  • Oversee the delivery and receipt of any conduct related financial charges or restitution for damages.
  • Create and implement a communication plan to inform Residence students of the Residence Community Standards and Residence Resolution Process.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of on-going training programs for the Residence relating to Student Conduct Administration.
  • Work to build further harm reduction and awareness events into the Community Development Model.
  • Support on-boarding initiatives of professional staff as it relates to Student Conduct Administration
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to professional-staff and student-staff.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 4-year undergraduate degree at a designated post-secondary institution in Social Science, Education, Criminal Justice, or a similar field of study.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience with managing and intervening with interpersonal conflicts of students.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field is considered a strong asset.
  • Additional student conduct training or experience utilizing restorative justice and/or conflict mediation skills is considered an asset.
  • Experience with developing policies and/or procedures is also considered an asset.
  • Advanced understanding and ability to apply tenets of Natural Justice and Procedural Fairness.
  • Sound knowledge of legislation such as Human Rights Code, Administrative Law, and the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Capability and flexibility in managing conflicting priorities and demands.
  • Strong research and analytical skills and ability to synthesize information and draw suitable conclusions.
  • Well developed counselling and advising skills, with a high degree of sensitivity to the needs of students, especially in times of stress.
  • Awareness of issues of equity and the needs of diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to present information in a persuasive fashion to teach and promote best practices.
