PAL Aerospace has partnered with SkyAlyne who has been named by Canada as the preferred bidder for the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program which Is our next generation pilot and aircrew training program for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).

This Program will be a 20+ year contract and will be managed from the National Capital Region (Ottawa), with one of its main operational locations in Winnipeg, MB.

The scope of the FAcT Program contract includes all training and in-service support requirements needed to prepare Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the RCAF. In collaboration with the Government of Canada and several major Canadian subcontractors, SkyAlyne will provide live-flying, simulator and classroom-based training, facilities construction and management, information management and information technology support, site support services, aircraft maintenance and much more.

PAL Aerospace is searching for an experienced Project Scheduler to join our Programs Department, preferably based in our St. John's, NL, and Ottawa, ON offices. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and work in conjunction with the technical team to establish a Schedule that aligns with the requirements of projects in development.
  • Work with Engineering, Maintenance, Integration, Software and Program teams to identify planning progress and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain an up-to-date schedule that reflects the project's material resource needs and implement measures to manage materials that affect the schedule.
  • Analyze schedules and develop reports for management on schedule metrics.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly planning/scheduling meetings.
  • Conduct a comparison between planned task and complete work while effectively managing any pending tasks or backlogs.
  • Define the project's scope in collaboration with the accountable project manager, determine the team composition, and specify the specialized tools and equipment essential for ensuring the safe completion of the task.
  • Monitor equipment availability and service requests.
  • Collaborate and assist in the development of the Integrated Master Schedule for the organization's work scope.
  • Promote the planning and scheduling philosophy and process to engage various stakeholders.
  • Develop standard job plans in consultation with task owners and departmental leaders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing planning tools, including the ability to proficiently manage the MS Project program, to support planning and scheduling efforts.
  • Running reports for management on work management metrics.
  • Assisting Job Leads with job initiation tasks (i.e. Risk Assessment input, attending Meetings etc.).
  • Review the project schedule and provide advice on production activities' work breakdown structure.
  • Responsible for resource management of project and supporting regular Earned Value Management reviews with Managers.
  • Prepares and presents planning and scheduling information to management.
  • Supports development of scheduling standards and procedures. Compiles, summarizes, updates, and maintains historical schedule data. Monitors and reports critical-path and schedule performance of the total project.
  • Utilize existing labour and materials requirements for known production activities and projects. [KD1] [DM2]

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Business Administration and/or an Aviation Business background.
  • A minimum of (3) years of direct work experience in technical and/or aerospace program management is preferred.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis.
  • Have considerable abilities and know-how in new/start up program development activities such as research, planning and data collection.
  • Project management certification and PMP certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders with diverse functional backgrounds (E.g. Engineering, supply chain, production, software development).
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple program development activities.
  • Demonstrated results-oriented approach to program planning and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision. This includes using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning.
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, including technical, professional, and senior management.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Project
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, SharePoint, Power BI.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management is considered an asset. [KD3] [DM4]

  • Incumbent must be eligible for Government Personnel Security Clearance.
