Social Worker IIIA, Temporary Full Time (Approximately 12 Months)Mental Health and Addictions, James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander

Definition of work:
The provision of Single Session Walk- In Clinics is identified as one component of a range of services to be offered in all four regional health authorities in the province in Towards Recovery: The Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador. This position reports to the Mental Health & Addictions Program Manager responsible for the service. The Social Worker provides single-session therapy using a broad range of single-session, brief intervention and postmodern theoretical frameworks and conducts professional analysis of complex situations. The Social Worker will mentor and provide consultation to clinicians of the Mental Health and Addictions Program who offer single-session walk-in services. This position exercises a significant degree of independent clinical judgment in providing appropriate clinical consultation to other clinic team members and in developing take away treatment plans for individuals. The Social Worker will also be expected to provide field instruction for Social Work students. This position may be involved in the delivery of a range of mental health & addictions services including the offering of individual, group and family therapy. The Social Worker IIIA will be responsible for providing guidance and leadership in program areas, coordinating practice standards, strategic planning, continuing education, workload utilization and evidence - informed practice. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Graduation with a Clinical or Integrated Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program with the MSW field placement in a clinical practice is required.
* Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers.
* Five (5) of the past seven (7) years of recent related mental health and addiction experience.
* Advanced clinical assessment skills, advanced intervention skills, and therapy experience with individuals, couples, groups, and families, clinical practice evaluation, and research design methodology.
* Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in assessment, analytical/critical thinking, organizational, leadership, supervision and oral/written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: CG-44 ($44.23-$52.18)
