JOB SUMMARY:

As part of the Trauma NB staff and reporting to a designated Trauma Coordinator, the Trauma Resource Nurse is responsible for supporting optimal trauma care within their facility and in other nearby trauma centres as assigned. Trauma Resource Nurses are responsible for the delivery of trauma-related education, quality improvement, prevention and research activities as assigned by Trauma New Brunswick (NB) and serve a critical role in the collection of trauma-related data from their respective site(s).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree from a recognized university is an important asset;
  • Minimum 5 years current clinical experience in Emergency/Critical Care, including the care of trauma patients;
  • Written and spoken competency in English and French required at the Advanced level;
  • Active registration with the New Brunswick Association of Registered Nurses;
  • Current certification in TNCC. Certifications in ACLS, ENC(C) and ENPC are assets;
  • Ability to work effectively as both a member of a team and independently/with minimal supervision within a defined scope of responsibility;
  • Demonstrable initiative, judgment and dependability in completing work assignments, including well-developed organizational skills, priority setting and problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and with members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nursing staff, allied health providers, managers and board members;
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from healthcare providers, managers, regulatory agencies or members of the community with high regard for confidentiality;
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and articles that conform to prescribed style and format;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, including interpretation of a variety of information furnished in written, oral or diagram format;
  • Computer and systems competency in the following areas: enters data, retrieves data, assembles and organizes data, uses and analyzes data, integrates diverse sources of data;
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions and data analysis;
  • Demonstrable and current knowledge of trauma systems;
  • Valid New Brunswick Driver's License;
  • Leadership skills that demonstrate the ability to inspire commitment, respect, compassion, fairness and justice;
  • Self-awareness, honesty, integrity, optimism, confidence and resiliency;
  • Ability to foster a shared vision, accept accountability and integrate evidence into decision-making;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
  • Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalité Health Network.
