Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice and Education, the Program Coordinator for Student and Learner Experience coordinates education opportunities for students/learners within VON. This may include clinical placements, non-paid internships/residencies and other education to advance evidence informed practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and maintains affiliation agreements and other pre-placement documents as they relate to the program.
- Books and monitors virtual education sessions and takes necessary action to ensure their success.
- Processes invoices for academic partners to ensure accurate allocation of program expenditures.
- Maintains documentation posted on the VON website and intranet for students, learners and staff including a web-based database for placements, preceptors and mentors.
- Coordinates new nurse graduate transition to practice, preceptor and mentorship programs.
- Collaborate with managers and Human Resources to identify and recruit high performing students
- Tracks and reports the annual evaluation results arising from the sites, student and preceptor, to the relevant manager and the Director of Professional Practice and Education and makes recommendations for change if necessary.
- Collaborate with other members of the Practice Quality and Risk team as required.
- Supports additional projects and tasks as requested.

- Promotes a safe and healthy workplace ensuring workplace conduct and activities are in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and compliant with the VON Safety Management System, including all Policies, Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
- Abides by all confidentiality and protection of personal information policies, regulations and practices and ensures appropriate safeguards are in place within their role
- Works in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery
External and Internal Relationships:
- Builds and maintains a collaborative relationship with the area leadership team and external vendors to obtain and provide information, often of a confidential nature.
Education, Designations and Experience:
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree in Business
- Minimum three (3) years of working experience in a business environment, including two (2) years of project coordination experience
- Healthcare experience (1 year) preferably in the community homecare sector
- Business and domain knowledge in community support services and homecare
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- PMP designation preferred

- An understanding of the Health Sciences Placement Network for Canada (HSPnet) and how to use proficiently.
- A clear understanding of the process for placement of students/learners.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities

- A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
- A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
- Ability to speak French is an asset in French Designated areas
