Job Title: Senior Associate, Fund Development and Engagement

Organization: Community Sector Council NL (CSCNL)

Location: Newfoundland and Labrador

Position Overview: CSCNL is seeking a dynamic and motivated development and engagement professional to lead the organization's efforts in creating a lasting and positive social impact. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the community by supporting the development and execution of our internal revenue diversification strategy while creating valuable resources for the broader community sector. As this is our inaugural position, we are open to a combination of experiences and supporting professional development where needed. What you can expect in the role:

1. Fund Development Strategy

  • Collaborate closely with the leadership team to conceptualize, develop, and execute a comprehensive fund development strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Identify emerging funding opportunities, potential donors, and innovative approaches to diversify revenue streams without competing
  • Conduct research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, continuously refining and optimizing fundraising strategies.

2. Capacity Building and Impact

  • Explore the development of a shared-services model for fund development to enhance efficiency and resource utilization within the community sector.
  • Create and maintain a valuable resource hub for community sector organizations, including a curated database of funding sources, best practices, and capacity-building resources.
  • Provide support for the establishment of provincial, community and/or impact funds, fostering collaboration and capitalizing the collective impact of community organizations across the province.

3. Engagement:

  • Support the CEO in external communications by managing social media channels, bi-monthly newsletters and media inquiries.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with private sector organizations, businesses, foundations, and impact investors to secure financial support and strategic, mission partnerships.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to internal staff as well as the broader community as capacity allows.

  • Post-secondary in a relevant field such as Business, Nonprofit Management, Communication, or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience in fund development, nonprofit fundraising, or a related role, with a successful track record.
  • Possession of a recognized fundraising certification (e.g., CFRE - Certified Fund Raising Executive) is an asset but not required.
  • Proficiency in using fundraising, content creation and other software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with donors, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration abilities, fostering a cooperative and inclusive work environment.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to navigate the evolving challenges and opportunities within the nonprofit sector.

What we bring to the table:

This is a one-year position with an opportunity for extension. Willingness to travel and use of a personal vehicle may be required, but accommodations can be provided. We are open to candidates who can work from one of our offices or who choose to work remotely from anywhere in Newfoundland and Labrador.

CSCNL provides a competitive total compensation package:

· This is a full-time position with an annual salary in the $60,000-$70,000 range.

· Enrollment in our Health and Dental program

· Employer-Employee shared contributions to a pension plan

· Three weeks annual leave in addition to 12 days wellness leave, plus recognized statutory holidays.

· Cultural leave of up to 3-days for observation of religious holidays plus other leave provisions.

· Flexible work arrangements based on a 35-hour work week.

What you can expect from the interview process:
