(Finance and Endowments Officer)

Office of Development and Alumni Engagement

(Three-Year Contractual Position)

DUTIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading financial efficiencies and operating processes in gift administration, to ensure protection of the Universities charitable status. Other responsibilities include office budget oversight, payables, receivables, trust fund tracking, and as well, managing the staff responsible for gift administration and budget. The Finance Officer will work not only with the Office of Development but also SAO’s/Finance Managers in other University departments; including Financial and Administrative services to ensure accurate administration of Memorial’s Trust Funds.

Duties include managing and reconciling of trust funds; generating accurate and detailed annual donor endowment reports; establishing quality control processes based on the University’s statement of Investment Policy and Objectives (SIPO) for endowed and non-endowed funds; ensuring funds are available for awarding and that the award adheres to the gift agreement; ensuring accurate accounting of restricted and unrestricted accounts for endowments; compiling and disseminating gift reports to various constituents; ensuring compliance with Federal government guidelines (CRA) in the coordination of gift receipting and acknowledgement process; preparing budget submissions and analyzing monthly budget activity; managing and reconciling financial and statistical reports for the FACT book, the CRA Charity Return, and the Board of Regents based on daily donation and pledge data; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (5-7 years) in a field related to finance or accounting, preferably with a charitable organization; an Undergraduate degree in business administration; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and Microsoft Excel is required. Problem solving skills and demonstrated attention to detail are requirements. Understanding University policies and procedures, Banner Finance, and Raiser’s Edge NXT are considered assets. Knowledge of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) registered charities guidelines and compliance activities would be also be an asset. An accounting designation is desirable but not required.

SALARY $66,092 - $90,126 per annum (Management and Professional)
