About the Job:

LEA Place Women’s Resource Centre is hiring a Project Coordinator who will be tasked with program planning and outreach work to offer additional services for women who have experienced Domestic Violence (DV) and/or Gender Base Violence (GBV) in our area and directly report to the Executive Director. This two-year pilot position will have three responsibility areas:

1. Identify new and review existing GBV prevention strategies

a) Research "off the shelf" programs, services, material and current prevention strategies focusing on education, advocacy, and community engagement.

b) Review LEA Places’ existing GBV resources and materials and compare them to the research results with the goal of recommending new programs and service opportunities to increase the capacity for GBV prevention within our Centre.

c) Complete an asset map for our community around DV and GBV.

d) Pilot a number of these programs within our Centre and with our community partners.

2. Offer additional support to those who have experienced GBV.

Provide those who have experienced GBV a person, place and programs with whom they can share experiences, learn about available resources and engage in other services offered at the Centre, and in our community, all of which will support them in rebuilding their lives and preventing future violence.

3. Leadership and Training

a) Use the environmental scan to educate and raising awareness with other partners along the Eastern Shore. Discuss the impact and navigation of available supports, and or the depletion or absence of specific kinds of supports, through community lunch-n-learns and workshops.

b) Offer the "off-the shelf" training to build capacity with community partners to scale-up community knowledge of supports.

c) Organize and coordinate training opportunities with community partners that will amplify knowledge mobilization, opportunities for collaboration that will enhance everyone’s response to a clients in need.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with a minimum post-secondary education with a Bachelor’s degree and/or diploma in a related field of social services, 3-5 years of experience in Gender Based Violence programming, one-two years related experience in feminist based advocacy and services.
  • Facilitation, advocacy and supportive skills with a trauma informed, feminist perspective with women, girls and survivors of sexual violence.
  • Understand inclusive, anti-oppressive practice and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality to provide emotional safety for Centre clients.
  • Make sound judgements when dealing with crisis events
  • Be approachable, non-judgmental, friendly, organized, reliable, enthusiastic and passionate about women's issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional time management skills to work both independently and with our team.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in maintaining statistical data
  • Navigation and posting of LEA Place's social media
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and community members
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies
