Position Summary :

The Community Peer Support Team Lead is a dynamic and passionate member of the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick (CMHA of NB) who is a trained individual with their own lived experience and provides support to peers, empowering them to make choices related to their

life based on self -determination. This is a non -clinical role. Responsibilities will include providing direction on the delivery of programs and services, training on safety, policies, and procedures, as well as the identificati on and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues.

The Community Peer Support Team Lead is responsible for the supervision and coordination of Certified Peer Support Worker Training, First Responder Peer Supporter Training, Community Peer Supporter Workshop, Campus Peer Support, Youth Peer Support Training, as well as areas of practice including the New Brunswick College of Well-Being, and Psych ological Health and Safety Standards. CMHA of NB's Community Peer Support Team Lead is leading a Community Peer Support pilot in communities across New Brunswick. This position combines hands -on involvement in peer support programs with leadership responsibilities and reports directly to the Peer Support Program Manager.

The Community Peer Support Team Lead will directly supervise, mentor, and support Community Peer Support Workers across the province, providing effective leadership within a fast -paced multi -tasked environment ensuring a high level of individual and team performance to meet targets and quality standards . They will actively lead and manage the team by providing one on one non -clinical consultation, facilitate bi -weekly team huddles and provide opportunities for professional development. Team lead will be req uired to be on call as needed in evenings or on weekends to support the safety of community peers. The Team Lead will also be responsible for provincial program promotion and networking.

The Team Lead will be required to work closely with management and other colleagues to assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of new policies, procedures, and initiatives. Through the effective management of targets, goals and efficienci es, the Team Lead will ensure the ongoing success of their team.

Responsibilities :

Leadership and Team Management of Community Peer Support Workers

  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and guidance to Community Peer Support Workers in the completion of their duties.
  • Support team with the development of annual workplans and ensure that expectations are clearly identified.
  • Day-to-day supervision of the team's operations, supporting Community Peer Support Workers in the execution of all aspects of their role and duties including meeting targets, performance obligations, and adherence to standards and practices.
  • Ensure service delivery fidelity with peer support values, principles of practice, and ethics.
  • Provide mentoring and support to individual team members to problem -solve and manage challenging situations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that aligns with CMHA of NB values.
  • Conduct bi-weekly team meetings and weekly individual check -ins to discuss goals, resolve concerns, set annual targets, and create a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Take responsibility for addressing and resolving performance concerns in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Be available for one -on-one consultations regarding the application of peer support framework and interventions, program guidelines, CMHA of NB policies, etc.
  • First line of response regarding incidents or safety -related issues, including providing guidance, decision making, communications, staff debriefing and ensuring all related administration including incident reports and documentation are completed (may inc lude evenings/weekends).
  • Co-ordinate team and individual professional development opportunities and activities.
  • Support and mentor team members, encouraging continuous learning and development.
  • Complete performance reviews, assist with hiring and onboarding of new team members, ensure on -going professional development, and participation in human resource matters.
  • Ensure that individual team members are adhering to organizational expectations regarding entering of time and attendance into the Dayforce system.
  • Ensure that team entries are reviewed for accuracy and authorized for payroll adhering to the organizational expectations.

Provincial Promotion and Stakeholder Relations

  • Lead the co -ordination of the Community Peer Support Worker Program's promotion through networking and promotional activities in collaboration with Community Peer Support Workers and CMHA of NB communications staff.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships and networking to facilitate awareness of the Community Peer Support Worker program and educate stakeholders on the distinct character and value of peer support.
  • Develop and coordinate provincial promotional strategies including managing promotional materials/assets, provincial promotional efforts, and communications in collaboration with CMHA of NB's communications staff.
  • Support regional Community Peer Support Workers in regional promotion strategies including promotional materials/assets, cultivation of regional stakeholder relationships, and development of regional promotional plans in alignment with provincial efforts.
  • Program updates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders, including Provincial Peer Support Consultant, CMHA of NB executive, and funding partners.

Program Administration and Evaluation

This is a pilot program under active development.

  • Program process or guideline review, adaptation, or further development to reflect the service delivery environment as well as evolving organizational infrastructure, practices, and policies.
  • Collaborate with CMHA of NBOp erations Manager to ensure appropriate program evaluation practices are implemented, and that reporting by Community Peer Support Workers is completed with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Complete and submit mandatory reports promptly using Teams and caseWORKS.
  • Ensure Community Peer Support Workers follow all program and organizational processes related to service delivery including appropriate, accurate and timely use of Case Management Software platform.
  • Oversee program administration including appropriate, accurate and timely use of time entry platform, expense submissions, meeting documentation, team communications, team SharePoint maintenance, etc.
  • Manage all aspects of your personal office including administrative and communication tasks such as telephone calls, correspondence, filing, and email.
  • Complete administrative tasks including daily timesheets, monthly expense reports, time - away requests, etc.
  • Oversee information in the CMHA of NB regional registrant database, adhering to confidentiality and data management practices.
  • Attend and manage attendance of team at all scheduled meetings including regional team meetings, provincial team meetings, around the province meetings and mandatory organizational meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Complete incident reports and other documentation when required within guidelines.
  • Participation in organizational and program level quality improvement activities as required.

Professional Development

  • Participate in continuing education related to the Team Lead role and overall program including mental health, substance use, legislation, and best practices in peer support to ensure continued professional competency and quality service delivery.
  • Stay current on relevant legislation and best practices, current research, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory trainings activities, seminars, or certifications.
  • Become active in professional communities as they become available such as professional associations or communities of practice.
  • Attend various conferences and access professional development opportunities as funding allows.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Follow and uphold CMHA of NB policies, operational procedures, peer support values, and ethical conduct.
  • Participation in organizational or program level quality improvement activities as required.
  • Participation in organizational practices, collaborations, and opportunities.
  • Support activities and projects which enhance the overall profile and functioning of CMHA of NB Peer Support Department.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with Post secondary studies or coursework in the fields related to Mental Health, Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Social Work, etc. A combination of professional competencies, work experience, and education will be considered.
  • Certificates of CMHA of NB Specialized Peer Support Training Certification is mandatory. (Hiring contingent upon successful completion)
  • Relevant professional, educational, or training certificates (ASIST, Changing Minds, NVCI, Mental Health First Aid, etc.) are assets.
  • Workplace First Aid / CPR certification or willingness to be trained is an asset.
  • A valid Work Permit is mandatory for temporary residents.
  • Residency in New Brunswick (NB) or willingness to relocate is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in both English and French languages is an asset
  • A new Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.

Working Conditions:

  • The workweek is 37.5 hours.
  • Flexible work schedules may be required to meet operational requirements.

  • Interacts with clients, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel in person and virtually.
  • Travel within the province is necessary.
  • Work in various settings or in partnership with other health agencies is expected.
