The Role

We are seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our team of professionals in either Saint John, NB or Blacks Harbour, NB. Reporting to the Director of Logistics you will arrange for the safe transport of temperature sensitive products to customers in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the daily logistics needs to and from various plant locations in a timely manner
  • Liaise with Plants, Distribution facilities, Customers and Carriers the timely movement of products via various modes and equipment type
  • Coordinate the movement of Ocean, Rail and air freight with multiple vendors in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Create optimized transportation routes and schedules for both LTL and TL shipments utilizing Transportation Management software
  • Schedule pick-up and delivery appointments as necessary
  • Track and trace shipments daily; trouble-shoot problems with shipments as they arise
  • Manage Drayage activities of vendor carriers at multiple plant facilities
  • Track carrier performance including on-time service and claims ratios
  • Manage freight and accessorial costs with Carriers and Freight Forwarders
  • Generate all necessary documentation for International Shipments
  • Coordinate sample testing and documentation with plant and Quality Control departments as required
  • On-call requirement on a rotational basis

To be effective in this role you must have:

  • Superior customer relationship skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks
  • Effective negotiating and communication skills
  • A can do attitude
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

Education / Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent and 1-3 years of experience required, logistics operations experience an asset
