JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Regional Medical Director, the Manager of the Provincial Medical Genetics Program organizes, coordinates and controls the activities of the Medical Genetics Clinic. The incumbent manages the budget, the purchasing of equipment and supplies, and human resources and is responsible for facilitating, coordinating and managing the clinical research projects conducted by the medical genetics researchers. The manager must also be able to write funding requests and handle the financial management of genetics research initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate university training in health management, science or health science;
- Bachelor's in health science and relevant management experience (will be considered);
- Minimum five years' experience in the health research field within a university setting, medical research facility or hospital setting;
- Minimum two years' management experience;
- Experience managing human and financial resources;
- Experience developing and coordinating research projects;
- Experiencing writing research protocols and literature reviews;
- Experience recruiting research subjects and collecting data considered an asset;
- IATA certificate (transportation of hazardous materials) considered an asset;
- Training or experience in social work or interacting with the public in the health care environment considered an asset;
- Good understanding of medical terminology and concepts;
- Experience with computers (Microsoft 365);
- Adherence to the management philosophy, code of organizational values, and professional ethics principles;
- Strong management skills, including in the following areas: program planning, development and evaluation; conflict resolution; human, physical and financial resource management; and problem-solving and analysis, especially in clinical research;
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks;
- Participation in change and ability to manage change with a positive attitude;
- Interpersonal skills promoting a climate conducive to welcoming and showing concern for clients and to communicating effectively;
- In-depth understanding of the scientific method and clinical research;
- Strong writing skills (in French and English);
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written);
- Good knowledge of the regulations governing research involving humans, the ICH GCP guidelines and the Tri-Council Policy Statement or willingness to take related online training;
- Good knowledge of computer tools and office automation applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
- Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
Written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French is required.
