Arrow is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Designer to work out of the Edmonton office. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently within the context of a mechanical design team, with attention to detail on projects of varying size and complexity including HVAC, fire protection and plumbing for health care, commercial, multi-family, light industrial, and institutional buildings. The position will also involve dealing with Clients, Contractors and Suppliers in the positive promotion of the firm.

Your Contribution
- Participate in development of building mechanical systems 2D and 3D documentation using appropriate software
- Support project manager and mechanical engineer as required in systems design
- Share responsibility for monitoring and ensuring quality control during construction
- Generate technical information with minimal guidance and supervision
- Develop complete and final building mechanical systems drawings from general conceptual information and design notes
- Coordinate Arrow's drawings with those of other disciplines, including external consultants, architects, developers, and other stakeholders on each project
- Accountable to other team members and the Project Manager for drawing production
- Successfully develop relationships with internal / external colleagues, affiliates, and construction personnel
- Field data collection
- Investigations and studies
- Building condition audits and asset management planning
- Contract administration and construction phase services, including field reviews, review of contractor submittals, etc.
- All other duties as required
Your Profile
- A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. LEED Accreditation and experience with sustainable design initiatives is considered an asset. Must be registered, or eligible for registration with APEGA
- 2 to 5 years of direct experience in mechanical design engineering for commercial and institutional buildings or equivalent experience and responsibilities is required. A comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel, along with AutoCAD drafting experience are required. Experience with Revit would be considered an asset.
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling and composition, as well as oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, energetic and action-oriented
- Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work individually and as a team member, within a dynamic, fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Effectively manages a variety of projects and/or initiatives, often occurring simultaneously
- Able to balance work and personal requirements
- Sense of humour
- Enjoys working in a professional office environment, with occasional client and/or site visits, and is able to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary
- Valid driver's license.
