8-hour shifts - Day
Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the manager, the incumbent coordinates and supervises the clinical and administrative activities around the analyses and procedures of the histopathology sector. The incumbent is responsible for all the processes, analyses and management of all aspects of this sector, of the morgue service and of transcription and participates in staff training. The incumbent helps to optimize administering patient care and meeting patient needs. The incumbent establishes a relationship of collaboration and leadership within their team and the Laboratory Services management team of Zone 4. The incumbent provides technical expertise in their field and performs a variety of technical and clinical duties, which include performing delegated medical functions. The incumbent could be called upon to perform supervisory duties of other sectors within the Zone 4 Laboratory.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active member of the NBALMT (including current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science [CSMLS] and the New Brunswick Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists);
  • Successful completion of management courses or willingness to take training in this area;
  • Six years of relevant histopathology experience;
  • Advanced training in histopathology would be an asset;
  • Current knowledge in the field of activity and maintenance of professional enrichment program (PEP) certificate from the CSMLS and of continuing education program certificate from the NBALMT;
  • Successful completion of management courses or willingness to take training in this area;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and above average problem-solving and communication skills;
  • Knowledge and skills working with various software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Meditech, etc.;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and organize work;
  • Sense of responsibility as well as planning and organizational skills;
  • Concern for clients;
  • Ability to briefly describe the position sought;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, to the Network's management philosophy and to organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.

Written and spoken competence in French and spoken competence in English are required.
