Community Social Service Worker Student

Please note this position is for a summer student and funded by the Government of Canada's Summer Job (CSJ) Program.

Terms of Employment:

  • Seasonal employment - full-time for 8 weeks/35 hours per week beginning May 06, 2024 to July 01, 2024
  • This position is for a young adult (16-30 years old)
  • Location; Newmarket, ON
  • Education No education required.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Client Intakes and Assessments:

  • Conduct initial client intakes, gathering essential information and assessing immediate needs.
  • Assist in evaluating client situations to provide appropriate referrals or support.

Support Program Staff:

  • Collaborate with program staff to support the group and individual programming offered at WCYR.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating workshops, support groups, or counseling sessions.

Administrative Assistance:

  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining accurate client records.

Community Outreach and Education:

  • Participate in community outreach events to raise awareness about services offered by the Women's Centre.
  • Contribute to educational materials or workshops aimed at empowering women and promoting social change.

Collaboration and Networking:

  • Build relationships and collaborate with other social service organizations, agencies, or community partners.
  • Attend meetings or networking events to enhance collaboration and information sharing.
