Machinist Lead - Nights

CNC Industries is a prominent manufacturer of OEM components for the Mining, Construction, Earthmoving Industries, and specialized parts used in the Oil Extraction process. We are looking for a positive, energetic, confident Machinists to run complex jobs on high end equipment in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for experienced Machinists using either CNC Lathe machines, Weiler, Mazak Turn/Mill Machines or DMG Mori Multi Spindle Machines. The Machinist Lead will have a strong background in directing, mobilizing, developing, training, and coaching machinists, including promoting a positive and engaged work environment. The Machinist Lead will also have a strong machining/programming background, able to perform Full Set-Ups, and competent working on complex components for the Mining and Oil & Gas industry without compromising quality standards.

Start Date: Immediately.

Wage Range: $38 - 50 / hour depending on experience.

Location: 3291 8 St, Nisku, AB T9E 8T3

Shifts Available: Night shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • At all times, the Machinist will be responsible for ensuring the Health & Safety of themselves, their peers, and customers in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Machine various oilfield and mining components in single or multiple operations, including performing complex programming.
  • Continuously monitoring employee performance and identifying areas of improvement
  • Provide all needed training and occasional onboarding of new employees.
  • Promote and enhance a positive employee relations environment, including efforts to continuously improve employee engagement and teamwork.
  • Promote a positive work environment and adopt a culture of continuous improvement in the areas of Quality, Health & Safety and Productivity.
  • Ensure the assigned work is completed in a timely manner – assisting in assigning and explaining daily tasks to Machinists, monitoring work progress and compliance with policies and procedures; training and assisting Machinists.
  • Assist in overseeing the execution of work orders issued to the shop, documenting, and reporting any deficiencies with recommended effective solutions.
  • Set-up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed controlled data; performing first article manufacturing when required.
  • Record measurements and fill out inspection log sheets as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
  • Remain in constant communication with team members, Team Leads and Managers regarding specific jobs workflow, incidents and other - liaise with all other necessary departments to resolve any issues related to machining, production, employee relations, health & safety, engineering, quality etc.
  • Recommends measures to improve quality results, production methods, equipment performance and product quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum five (5) years Machining experience performing Full Set-Ups
  • Journeypersons Certificate or experience as a Machinist an asset
  • Ability to program & edit machines codes.
  • API threads on Weiler controls an asset.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Sigma Six and /or other Continual Improvement experience an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of tooling, calibrated equipment, part loading & clamping and machine maintenance
  • Experience in Oil & Gas and Mining machining.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interest and the ability to learn new applications, tools, and technology – must be open to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Keen attention to detail and meticulous delivery of the highest quality of standards and accuracy; strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a collaborative environment.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Fit to be walking, standing, bending, lifting, and performing continuous and repetitive movements.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Able to work Nights.
