Senior CAD/CAM CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Programmer

CNC Industries is currently looking for a positive, dynamic and well-rounded experienced Senior Programmer with a strong background in CNC programming, machining, with competency working and programming complex components for Mining and Oil & Gas. Reporting to the Programming Manager, this role will be responsible for writing and maintaining CNC programs, including supporting, training, and troubleshooting for setting up machines.

Wage Range: $90,000 - $180,000 hour depending on experience.

Location: 3291 8 St, Nisku, AB T9E 8T3

Shifts Available: Day shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • At all times, the Senior Programmer will be responsible for ensuring the Health & Safety of themselves, their peers, and customers in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings to program and operate CNC machines – testing and editing new programs.
  • Responsible for developing and improving machining processes, including selection of cutting tools, design and the manufacture of jigs and fixtures to optimize quality and cost.
  • Prepares machining set-ups using jigs, fixtures and/or machine attachments for the machining of complex precision components.
  • Liaise with engineering and the production planning departments, including contract manufacturing customers to determine machining feasibilities and improving quality and costs.
  • Train and support all operators and junior programmers.
  • Keep up to date with current machining and tooling technology – recommends and implements new and innovative changes to manufacturing processes to improve quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile and Required Skills:

  • Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Degree
  • Strong Numerical Control (NC) programming skills – working knowledge of Solidworks (3D), Espirit, Mastercam, Gibbs Cam and Cimco programming software.
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience programming
  • Working experience manipulating and editing posts is a must.
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing – must have working knowledge of machining methods, and shop math.
  • Working knowledge of vertical milling machines, 5 axis milling machines, 5-axis mill-turn machines, horizontal and vertical lathes.
  • Knowledge of ISO, conversational programming software and control and compact II programming.
  • Able to compute dimensions, tapers, cutting angles, tool settings, feed rates and machine speeds.

  • A passion for design with close attention to detail.
  • Must be open to continuous learning and improvement - interest and the ability to learn new products, applications, tools, and technology.
