Job Title: Regulatory Engagement Coordinator

The Regulatory Engagement Coordinator supports the development and implementation of effective engagement strategies that align with Skeena's goals and commitments to Indigenous governments and organizations, regulators and stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments, contribute to successful relationship development, and support the success of Skeena and the Eskay Creek Revitalization project.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Developing communications and engagement strategies, plans and schedules that are responsive to project needs and meet project milestones and approval schedules.
  • Developing materials to support Skeena's community, technical and leadership engagement with Indigenous Partners in relation to various regulatory approvals.
  • Creating, managing, and implementing written content for various communications and engagement initiatives such as project websites, e-newsletters, mail outs, information packages, social media content, key message preparation, and other project communications materials as needed.
  • Supporting and organizing event planning, logistics and execution on behalf of project teams and facilitating Indigenous and stakeholder engagement tactics such as workshops, open houses, small-format meetings, and online outreach.
  • Administering technical collaboration processes with Indigenous partners to ensure proactive and responsive collaboration.
  • Tracking and analyzing Indigenous and stakeholder feedback as well as developing responses, reports, summaries, and mitigation strategies to thoughtfully respond to feedback themes and priorities.
  • Maintaining internal records relating to Skeena's external relationship management and regulatory engagement requirements.
  • Tracking Skeena compliance with project required engagement and assessment plans as it relates to Indigenous Nations, public, local government and stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Developing reports relating to Skeena regulatory engagement activity.
  • Coordinating and facilitating information sharing between sustainability, site, and various local community groups to ensure appropriate levels of detail are captured.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with project managers, consultants, agencies and interested parties.
  • Preparing technical documents, reports, and presentations as required.
  • Managing projects and deliverables efficiently, including budget, scope, and schedules
  • All other related and general administrative duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years project experience in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, or community consultation.
  • Environmental assessment experience and experience in the resource, energy, industrial, market sectors considered an asset.
  • IAP2 trained or working towards IAP2 training is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing communications strategies on behalf of a variety of industries, projects, and client sectors.
  • Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, environmental planning, or a related discipline preferred.Experience / Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Proven organization, planning, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), research and data analysis, and technical writing skills.
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others.

Working Conditions

This role can be based at any of Skeena's Office locations (Smithers or Vancouver) or work from home arrangements can be made. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities.

This job requires the incumbent to be able to work away from home occasionally and to be able to travel to different work locations or events outside of regular office hours as well as travel to Skeena's remote project sites and collaborate with internal and external parties.

Salary Range: $60K to $90K per annum.
