Youth Reunification Worker

What you will be doing:
As a Youth Reunification Worker, you will work collaboratively as part of a team of professionals to meet the needs of youth, their families, and communities. Within the Youth Reunification homes, you will help to foster a family-oriented environment for youth aged 13 - 18 years by working within a relational, developmental model and utilizing a harm reduction, attachment-based approach. Your role will be to support youth to re-connect to family and community in meaningful ways, creating long lasting, permanent relationships. You will also encourage and support the development of healthy living skills. In order to ensure a safe, stable and consistent environment for the youth, Youth Reunification homes are supported 24 hours a day by team members working 12-hour shifts (days and nights) on a consistent rotation.
  • Attend to the daily maintenance of the home, while teaching and modelling household management skills.
  • Monitor and support child development and parenting focusing on general well-being, trauma, and attachment.
  • Observe and document family interactions, focusing on strengths, concerns, and areas of growth, while ensuring transparency with the family and service team.
  • Monitor the ongoing success or challenges inherent in the reunification experience, continue to identify emerging or enhanced strengths, and develop new strategies for additional assets.
  • Provide support & shift coverage in both the Family & Youth Reunification Homes, as required.
What you will bring to the role:
  • Diploma in Child & Youth Care or Social Work with related experience (or)
  • Certificate in Human Services Sector with extensive experience with Indigenous culture and communities in a residential setting.
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultures
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with people affected by trauma
Background Check Process & Requirements:
As a part of the selection process, The Family Centre will conduct reference checks with your most recent employers.
  • Police Information Check- Vulnerable Sector (completed within the last 6 months)
  • Child Intervention Records Check (completed within the last 6 months)
  • $2 million Vehicle Liability Insurance
  • Reliable Vehicle, available for regular use and valid driver's license
  • 5-years Driver Abstract
  • Our Children Are Sacred Youth Suicide Prevention Training or ASIST Suicide Intervention Training within 3 months of start date
  • Standard First Aid Level C CPR with 3 months of start date.
