Caradoc Townsend Mutual Insurance Company (CTM), established in 1879, is seeking an experienced Manager of Agency – Business Development. This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

CTM is a financially strong, growth-oriented, policyholder-owned, property and casualty Mutual insurer with an annual Gross Written Premium (GWP) of more than $18 million. We keep our promises and provide peace of mind through high-quality insurance products and coverage for personal, agriculture, and commercial lines. Our dedicated sales group serves a membership-client base in southwest Ontario with two offices, one in Kilworth and the other in Waterford.

The successful applicant will be part of the Leadership Team overseeing company operations. They will take a leadership role in long-term business, financial and strategic planning while building strong relationships with business leaders and process owners.

About the Role

The Manager of Agency - Business Development will play a crucial role in managing, supporting, and guiding licensed insurance agents to achieve individual and collective business objectives. You will drive the growth of our agency network and support marketing initiatives. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strategic mindset, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in management and business development within the insurance industry.

Desired Competencies

To join our team, you will ideally:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the insurance industry with a focus on agency management.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing insurance agents and achieving operational objectives.
  • Proven experience in insurance Business Development and Marketing.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective networking skills to foster a positive working environment and enhance collaboration.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to guide and motivate a team of insurance agents.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide CSR Leaders, CSRs, and Insurance Agents to ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish performance metrics and goals for insurance agents. Monitor and evaluate individual and collective performance, providing feedback and coaching as necessary.
  • Support ongoing professional development initiatives to ensure agents stay updated on industry trends and product knowledge.
  • Oversee the efficient processing of policies, endorsements, and renewals by the agency team.
  • Collaborate with agents to enhance customer service standards and satisfaction while addressing customer inquiries and concerns escalated by agents, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Implement best practices for policy administration, documentation, and communication.
  • Work closely with internal departments such as underwriting, claims, and marketing to ensure seamless communication and cooperation.
  • Ensure that the agency network operates in full compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with insurance agents, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Generate and analyze reports on agency performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Work with senior management to develop and manage budgets related to agency operation ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency in resource allocation.

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit new agency partners to expand the company's market presence.
  • Develop and implement effective business development strategies to achieve growth targets.
  • Collaborate with agents to identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling insurance products.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop materials and campaigns that support agency growth and enhance brand visibility.
  • Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with agency partners, ensuring their needs are met and aligning their goals with company objectives.
