About the Opportunity

UJA is seeking a visionary and strategic Vice President, Marketing & Brand Strategy who will oversee marketing and brand strategy to support our fundraising and programing objectives, and grow brand familiarity, affinity and perception for UJA. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working within a hub and spoke marketing structure the incumbent will oversee our digital marketing efforts and work collaboratively with a broad set of internal partners to develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns that resonate with target donors and community members and achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with UJA's objectives, including building a brand that appeals to prospective donors, while always enhancing the existing donor's connection to UJA.
  • Lead the development and execution of a branding strategy and campaign to drive increased affinity and equity for UJA by ensuring a consistent brand identity and visual representation across all parts of UJA Federation.
  • Lead a team of senior marketing professionals.
  • Oversee Digital Marketing and Marketing Operations. Collaborate with VP Communication to ensure programs are aligned with brand strategy and programs deliver against key brand metrics.
  • Oversee the Events and Social Media Strategy and annual event planning process. Cultivate and advance strong relationships with Integrated Development Foundation, Community Capacity Building, Jewish Engagement and Israel & Overseas Senior Leadership.
  • Establish and manage a set of external agency partners to support brand team's work.
  • Recruit, motivate, coach, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing health and well-being of the Marketing Hub & Operations, Events and Design teams.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

  • Post-secondary degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years' relevant work experience, including 3-5 years at a senior level
  • Previous experience managing and developing talent; passionate about helping people learn and grow
  • Ability to work off-hours as required, including evenings or weekends
  • Experience delivering strategic and innovative programs and campaigns with a proven track record of results
  • Experience leveraging social media, digital and events as part of the multi-channel marketing mix
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues, stakeholders, donors, lay leadership, community, external agency partners, etc.
  • Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
  • A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skill and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
  • Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
  • An ability to think strategically and critically
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with non-profits, the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset

* This is a full-time permanent position. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
