HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia's publicly funded health employers. OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Accounting Assistant is a key member of the finance team and will be responsible for providing account related clerical support functions to a busy, service-oriented department including accounts payables, expense allocations, vendor and general ledger account reconciliations, and bank deposits. You will work fully in the office.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Accounts Payables – obtaining payment approval, inputting invoices, processing weekly cheque runs, responding to vendors inquiries and account reconciliation
  • Setting up and maintaining filing systems and off-site storage record
  • Accounts Receivables – generating invoices, and data entry as required
  • Visa statement reconciliation and expense allocation
  • General ledger - account reconciliation as requested
  • Communicating with staff regarding invoices and payment and Finance procedures
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end processes.

Job Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12 and a 2-year post-secondary diploma program related to accounting/finance and one to two (1-2) year's related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Proficient with Sage 300.
  • A team player and self-starter with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgement, tact, confidentiality and discretion.
  • Advanced Excel skills plus an aptitude and interest in technology are considered assets.
  • Payroll experience is not required, but considered an asset.

Salary Range: $47,064 to $61,771

Typical Hiring Range: $47,064 to $58,830

In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate's skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
