The HR Generalist will be an integral member of Plan A Powered By StaffStat's Human Resources Department as we strive to provide a positive employee experience for all team members. The human resources (HR) generalist is a professional who oversees the human resources responsibilities and activities of the organization and manages recruitment processes, employee relations, regulatory compliance, policies and procedures compliance, and benefit programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a positive and welcoming environment between HR and team members while ensuring that company policies & procedures are always adhered to.
  • Respond to and support internal and external HR-related employee inquiries or requests.
  • Responsible for completing, tracking, and auditing all vacation, benefits, and PTO requests, with respective management oversight reporting and communication.
  • Administrator of the benefit program.
  • Prepare and process all employee forms and documentation related to new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, salary adjustments, immigration support, etc.
  • Employee Relations: Provide consultation, coaching, and support to the business in all areas of Human Resources and related legislation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislations (i.e., Human Rights Act, Employment Standards, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety, and Insurance Act, AODA) ensuring all related company policies & procedures are in compliance and adhered to.
  • Assist the operations department with creating organizational policies, procedures, guidelines, employee engagement programs, HR manuals, organizational charts, etc.
  • Lead HR communication and issues management activities, ensuring respective senior management reporting and communication.
  • Develop a strong knowledge base of Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) legislation and processes, exploring ways that the organization can best support newcomers settling into their new position(s).
  • Managed end-to-end recruitment processes including maintaining the internal and external career pages for Plan A Long Term Care Staffing & Recruitment Inc., Plan A Health Care Staffing Solutions Inc., and StaffStat Inc. advertising, screening resumes, coordinating interviews with managers, initiating reference checks, preparing new hire documentation, and initiating orientation and onboarding process.
  • Oversee the overall recruitment process for internal and agency staffing, providing suggestions and recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct employee exit interviews, identifying trends and providing recommendations for effective change and improvement.
  • Assist the payroll department by providing relevant employee information (e.g., leaves of absence, sick days, and work schedules).
  • Manage data entry and maintain the integrity of employee information in the HRIS system.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality when managing all employee and company information.
  • Work on ad-hoc projects and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • University degree or College diploma in Human Resources or a relevant field is required.
  • Professional certification in CHRP/CHRL or working towards certification is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases, Bamboo HR preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, HR & employment legislation, and HR best practices.
  • Experience creating and maintaining a records management system is an asset.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Detailed oriented, multi-task-oriented, professional, and self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to multi-task and meet or exceed all deadlines.
  • Proactive assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven computer skills using Microsoft 365 and related applications.
  • Excellent active listening, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization.
