BGC Okanagan provides safe and supportive spaces where children, youth and families can experience new opportunities, over come barriers, build positive relationships and build confidence and skills for life. BGC Okanagan is hiring two Youth Workers in our Drop In Program at the Westside Youth Centre. Our Youth Workers support our youth in a fun safe environment, attend to basic needs and implement activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development, implementation and evaluation of programs and activities for youth.
- Encourage and facilitate member participation in activities; provides guidance, instructions, positive encouragement and direction.
- Plan, develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of support services to youths.
- Create and develop engagingvirtual programs for youth aligned with best practices and core programming areas.
- Supervises and ensures the safety of youth. Reports problems to the supervisor.
- Maintain and model appropriate personal boundaries with clients.
- Work with youth, families, staff and volunteers to support youth during challenging times.
- Encourage independence, choices, decision-making and problem solving in youth.
- Foster growth of self-esteem and self-concept in an environment that is welcoming and supportive.
- Encourage participation and community involvement amongst the youth.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or social services.
- Current First Aid or willingness to obtain
- Successful Completion of Agency Screening Process including a Criminal Record Check
Hours: Position #1-30 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 2:00pm-8:00pm
Position #2-20 hours a week, Monday to Friday 4:00pm-8:00pm
Rate of Pay: $18.87 per hour plus cost shared benefits
