Gore Mutual implemented Guidewire Cloud Classic for both Personal and Commercial Lines of business, migrating off legacy systems. Positioned to reap the benefits of one unified platform, we are looking for an experienced Guidewire Solution Architect to help us with the transition to cloud platform and to help leverage the full potential of the platform post migration.

You will report directly to the Director of Engineering and work alongside senior technology leaders across Gore IT. Your work will make Gore Mutual more resilient, leaner, and better positioned to succeed in its ambition to progress from a regional to a national insurer.

What will you be doing in this role?

• Guidewire Solution Architect is owner for the Gore Guidewire implementation and surrounding ecosystem, and primary point of contact for significant changes to this platform.
• Be a core member of the team to define and map the migration from cloud classic to cloud platform, identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Educate the wider migration team as to the decisions that define our approach, while articulating the risks and their mitigates in our journey.
• Provide technical leadership within the technology team for Guidewire suite, in particular owning architecturally impactful solutions from design through implementation, while guiding the delivery teams on that journey.
• Work within an Agile delivery model, with architecture thinking that support this type of collaborative delivery.
• Work directly with senior business leaders in Personal and Commercial Lines to translate their strategic requirements into deliverables that are aligned with our architecture future state.
• Work closely with colleagues in Enterprise Architecture and the wider Architecture community at Gore, to ensure consistency and increasing architectural maturity across domains.
• Contribute to the creation and improvement of the enterprise architecture practices, processes, governance, and compliance.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage within our technology estate, in collaboration with peers.
• Work to resolve architecture differences or conflicts across the various architecture layers in the enterprise.
• Maintain current state Architecture and collaborate with peers and leaders in defining future state Architecture vision for Guidewire, supporting the Business and IT strategy and vision.
• Drive continuous technology transformation working with business and IT leaders to minimize technical debt.

What will you need to succeed in this role?

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Guidewire solution architect preferred.
• Minimum 10 years technology related experience preferred.
• Deep understanding of P&C Insurance in Canada, across Commercial and Personal Lines
• Deep understanding of the Guidewire InsuranceSuite and Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP)
• Knowledge of CSIO standards and solutions an advantage
• Experience working with popular BMS systems such as Epic, PowerBroker or SigXP
• Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS or Azure) or strong architecture experience on Cloud preferred.
• Guidewire technical certification essential
• In depth understanding of at least two of the following competencies: microservices governance, DevOps, Agile architecture, data analytics, TOGAF.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills. The successful candidate would communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, adapting their style based on target audience.
• Work with various business and IT stakeholders to demonstrate business value of enterprise architecture approach, vision and practice.
• Strong proven Software Engineering experience
