Pacific Programming and Tech Inc., is a leading software development firm specializing in the development of complex systems and web applications. We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to become a fundamental part of our team in our Vancouver office location. The successful candidate must not only have a deep understanding of C# and .NET, but also be capable of designing and implementing entire systems. We are at an exciting time here at PPT, and we are looking to build out our west coast team.

Our Tech Stack

We lean heavily into the Microsoft stack, with a few supporting technologies that you will get stuck in with too. For the most part, we host ASP.NET Razor Pages sites containing a number of embedded React components interacting with Web API backends, all of which sit above a number of MSSQL Server databases. We are at the beginning of a long-term project to migrate existing Razor Pages sites to React SPAs/Web API, so strong familiarity with RESTful API design is a plus! We keep our code in Git on Azure Repos and deploy to our environments using Azure Pipelines. Applications are hosted on IIS and we use Datadog for most of our monitoring needs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular planning activities with the team (we follow a mix of Agile practices).
  • Write high-quality and well-tested code.
  • Collaborate with other developers in the form of code reviews, pair programming, and tech designs.
  • Work closely with the QA and Design teams, as well as the team product manager and tech lead.
  • Monitor applications and understand the root cause of bugs/problems that may arise.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience working in the Microsft/.NET ecosystem.
  • 3+ years of experience with MSSQL Server.
  • A solid understanding of HTTP and RESTful API design.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery.
  • Strong communication skills.

Good to Have

  • A proven track record of creating scalable systems.
  • An appreciation for what can (and does) go wrong with software and how to mitigate these problems.
  • Experience working in a devops-oriented environment.
  • Experience mentoring and upskilling junior peers.

Benefits of Working with Pacific

  • Competitive salary based on your level of experience.
  • A hybrid work environment with time split between remote work and in-office collaboration.
  • A benefits package that includes an extensive health insurance package, as well annual vacation, sick and personal days.
  • Downtown office location in the heart of Vancouver, with an office in downtown Montreal.
