The Community Relations Coordinator assists with execution and implementation of community relations strategic outcomes in the following areas: youth engagement and school programming, outreach initiatives and promotions, game day and events. With the mission to develop, maintain and strengthen the WFC's visibility and influence with key stakeholders, as well as extend community outreach, you will help build goodwill in the community and enhance our corporate reputation.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and execute in-school and in-community programs to meet organizational goals
  • Plan and facilitate mascot and cheer and dance team appearance requests
  • Draft and assist with media announcements surrounding community or game day activations
  • Assist with media relations by attending interviews, tracking earned media, and brainstorming creative ways to promote community efforts
  • Write, edit, proof, and update community pages on bluebombers.com
  • Coordinate game day activations and awards and assist with halftime planning and coordination
  • Coordinate community groups for all Valour FC home games
  • Assist with community-themed Blue Bomber home games
  • Research and apply for grant funding
  • Maintain positive relationships with corporate and charitable partners
  • Create world-class positive experiences for all attendees community events
  • Assist the Director of Events and Catering with corporate or major events

Requirements

Must-haves

  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment, effectively managing multiple programs and projects simultaneously while still paying close attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, leadership/management, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital/social media tools and platforms.
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player that can execute independently. Willing and able to be hands-on in executing programs.
  • Able to work flexible hours which require both evening and weekends throughout the year
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience developing, organizing, and executing programs, initiatives, and events (sports, entertainment or media experience preferred).
  • Post-secondary education in related field of study preferred.
