About Us

TFI Canada services commercial food and beverage equipment for restaurants, convenience and fuel retailers, institutions and food service operators across Ontario. Our technicians keep our customers' kitchens running, and we back them with the tools, training and manufacturer support to do it right the first time.

The Role

We're hiring a Commercial Appliance Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain a broad range of electric commercial kitchen equipment. You'll work our afternoon shift, running service calls independently across the GTA. This role suits a technician who is comfortable with a meter, can track down the right wiring diagram or service manual on their own, and takes pride in leaving the customer with working equipment and a clear explanation.

What You'll Work On

Equipment includes, but is not limited to:

• Panini presses, contact grills and sandwich presses

• Commercial and high-speed / combination microwave ovens

• Steam tables, hot food wells and holding cabinets

• Electric cooking equipment: ovens, griddles, fryers, ranges, toasters, warmers

• Other light and countertop commercial kitchen appliances

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on 120V, 208V and 240V single- and three-phase equipment: elements, thermostats, controls, contactors, relays, sensors and wiring

• Independently source and use service manuals, wiring diagrams, parts breakdowns and manufacturer technical support to resolve issues in the field

• Complete repairs on the first visit wherever possible; identify, quote and order the correct parts when a return is needed

• Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks

• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers: explain the problem, the repair and any recommendations

• Document every call accurately in our mobile service platform, including work performed, parts used and photos

• Follow customer site requirements, NTE (not-to-exceed) limits and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout

• Maintain company vehicle, tools and van stock

What You Bring

• 2+ years of exp. servicing commercial cooking or appliance equipment, or a related electrical repair background

• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills: confident reading schematics and using a multimeter and clamp meter

• Resourcefulness: you can find the information you need and work through an unfamiliar unit on your own

• Strong customer service skills and a professional, friendly attitude on site

• Valid Ontario G driver's license with a clean driving record

• Comfortable with smartphone/tablet-based work orders and documentation

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in kitchen environments

Nice to Have

• Electrical (309A/442A), Appliance Service Technician (Ontario 444A) or related trade certification or apprenticeship

• Factory training from commercial cooking manufacturers

• Microwave safety and leakage testing experience

• Gas or refrigeration experience (G3/G2, ODP)

What We Offer

• Starting wage of $30.00/hour, based on experience

• Consistent Monday to Friday schedule, no weekend shifts

• Company service vehicle, tools and mobile device

• Manufacturer and in-house technical training

• Group benefits [confirm details]

• Growth opportunities within a growing field service team
