Communications & Events Specialist
Our client is seeking a Communications & Events Specialist to lead communications and coordinate events that support organizational priorities, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness. This role brings together content development, digital communications, event planning, and partnership support while working closely with internal teams, vendors, sponsors, and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication and project management skills, creativity, and the ability to keep multiple initiatives moving forward.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Develop and coordinate internal and external communications across multiple channels
  • Create engaging content for newsletters, email campaigns, websites, social media, and public-facing materials
  • Manage website content and digital communications to ensure information remains current and accessible
  • Plan and coordinate conferences, professional development sessions, meetings, and special events
  • Manage event timelines, budgets, logistics, registration, and vendor relationships
  • Build relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, partners, and other key stakeholders
  • Support sponsorship initiatives and identify opportunities to grow event-related revenue
  • Develop briefing materials, presentations, reports, and communications for leadership and stakeholder activities
  • Monitor communications and event performance to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand standards across communications and events
Your strengths include:
  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, event planning, or a related field
  • Diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Event Management, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and content development skills
  • Experience coordinating conferences, professional development programs, or large-scale events
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing timelines, budgets, vendors, and multiple priorities
  • Experience with websites, email marketing, social media, and digital communication tools
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with sponsorships, partnerships, or revenue-generating initiatives considered an asset
  • Experience in a regulatory, professional association, public sector, or not-for-profit environment considered an asset
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel within Alberta as required
