The opportunity
(Please note this is a 12-18 months contract and hybrid working role. Candidates must be based out of Vancouver/Western Canada.)
The Director, Corporate Partnerships – Western Region will provide strategic leadership and management of the corporate fundraising plan for Heart & Stroke across SK, MB, AB, BC, Yukon, NWT. They will collaborate with a team of skilled professionals across Canada to achieve the highest priority needs of the Foundation while leading the business strategy to grow the organization's corporate partnerships portfolio. A highly respected and proven fundraiser or sales professional, the Director will contribute to and provide input to H&S corporate sales strategy and lead its implementation in the West to secure new corporate partnerships for key organization priorities. The Director will also contribute to the development of a national prospect strategy working in collaboration with peers across the country. They will effectively and successfully deliver on or exceed annual and longer-term corporate revenue goals for the Western Region.

Strategic Planning
- Implement the annual plan for corporate partnership goals and objectives for Western Region. This plan will include both a focus on national partners and West specific opportunities.
- Collaborate on the development of a national corporate prospect strategy to secure partners for key organization priorities, working in collaboration with peers from across the country in identifying prospects and planning the approach.
- Collaborate with peers across the country in the planning process to develop a coordinated approach when working with National partners .
- Manage annual budget for corporate fundraising in the West, reviewing financial results and projections on a regular basis using reports, tools, and process.
- Provide leadership and fundraising expertise, mentoring direct reports, peers and senior level volunteers.
- In alignment with the Development team's strategic plan, deliver on annual targets and achieve revenue goals that are currently more than $1M with high growth potential.
- Lead the execution of the regional strategy to secure new high value corporate partners that support key organization priorities.
- Deepen relationships with current corporate partners to secure all lines of potential revenue.
- Manage a portfolio of 75 corporate relationships and develop and generate 40 new qualified prospects annually
- Collaborate with all fund development teams to coordinate approaches to corporate prospects, enhance the existing pipeline and grow existing corporate relationships
- Collaborate closely with Central Development Services, Community Engagement, Marketing and Mission teams to identify high quality, highly customized opportunities for partners.
- Cultivate relationships across all levels of partner organizations and Heart & Stroke, working in partnership with Heart & Stroke executive team, and four Provincial Advisory Boards.
- Liaise with Central Development Services team to ensure smooth account transitions with tailored and meaningful plans for all corporate partners.
- Engage with senior level volunteers to create enthusiasm for exercising their influence in their own constituencies and opening their networks.
- Provide regular briefings, coaching and advice to four Provincial Advisory Boards, as required, on the progress of the Corporate Partnership team goals.
Who we need
Education
- Post-secondary degree in a related field and/or combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in fundraising in a large, multi-level and/or complex health related organization.
- Has a track record of working closely with a President, Vice-President and/or senior level executive leaders and volunteers.
- Demonstrated corporate fundraising sales and/or campaign experience and driving the acquisition of contributions at the $100,000+ range.
- Experience in successfully recruiting training and mentoring fundraising professionals.
- Experience participating in an integrated central fundraising program and prospect clearance process.
- Marketing & Communications, Agency, or Public Relations background an asset.
- Exceptional networking ability, demonstrated tact, diplomacy and creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with corporate partners.
- Ability to work at the detailed level with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills – volunteer briefings, proposal and partner outreach
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work within a CRM database.
- Appreciation and understanding of AFP Code of Ethics, Policies and Procedures.
