Job Title: Spousal Assault Victim Support Worker
Term, Full Time
Details of the Position: Provides direct services to victims of relationship violence. Ensures thatthe intent of the Ministrys Policy on Violence Against Women inRelationships is being met and that relevant social, health, and criminaljustice agencies are working together to provide consistent andappropriate assistance to women who are victims of relationship violence.
This position is a temporary position that will last until February 2026,or until the return of the incumbent. This position will be located at theColwood Courthouse.
Qualifications: A degree in social work, counselling, or a related field. A minimum of two years related work in a similar environment, or anequivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Direct program delivery experience in the criminal justice system, withworking knowledge of community-based programs.

Hours 35 hours per week: Monday to Friday 9:00 5:00
Starting Pay Rate $40.03 per hour

Supervisor Program Manager; works under the guidance and direction of theCoordination Committee of Violence Against Women in Relationships.
Additional Information This position is required to work in an environment with clients
experiencing crisis or interpersonal situations. Support is often related to
long-term impacts of physical, financial, verbal, sexual, and emotional
abuse. Staff are often working on their own, on site.
This position also requires union membership, satisfactory completion ofa criminal records search, and Standard First Aid Certificate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide information and assistance to clients dealingwith criminal justice and social service systems.
2. Interview clients, assess problems, and outlineservices provided by the program. Develop and
implement counselling and intervention process toassist clients.
3. Act as an advocate for the client and provide supportfor them, including court orientation and
accompaniment. Liaise with other criminal justicesectors while the client is in the program.
4. Maintain a thorough knowledge of communityresources to meet clients needs.
5. Facilitate an effective community response toincidents of violence against women with special
emphasis on the criminal justice system through thelocal committee.
6. Participate in monitoring of policies and evaluatingthe effectiveness of such policies. Providerecommendations to committees to addressconcerns in the implementation of policies.
7. Maintain accurate reports and records on clients andprovide monthly reports. Prepare case studies,
statistical reports, and annual log of issues for thecommittee.
8. Participate on regional and provincial committees toidentify and address systemic problems that can be
forwarded to relevant government ministries.
9. Provide and facilitate specialized training, workshops,and education to community agencies and to regional
and provincial bodies.
10. Performs other related duties as required.
Job Skills and Abilities:
Well developed interpersonal, counselling, oral andwritten communication skills. Good organization, time,
and general management skills. Drivers license andaccess to a vehicle required.
