The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)provides strategic HR partnership to employees and leaders across Armstrongs corporate functions, with a strong focus on consultative business partnering, organizational design, and supporting change initiatives.

This position is located at Armstrongs Global Headquarters in Scarborough.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic HR Business Partnering

  • Partner with corporate functions to translate business priorities into people strategies.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to leaders on workforce planning, team effectiveness, and leadership capability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on organizational effectiveness, talent development, and culture-building.

Organizational Design & Change Management

  • Lead or support org design projects to optimize structure, span of control, and role clarity.
  • Collaborate with leaders and global HR teams to plan and execute change management initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops and interventions that drive alignment, engagement, and adoption of change.

Talent Acquisition, Development & Retention

  • Manage recruitment, ensuring strong talent pipelines for critical positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to refine role descriptions and selection processes.
  • Champion structured onboarding and integration programs for new hires.
  • Support succession planning and career development pathways in collaboration with CoEs.

HR Programs & Employee Engagement

  • Implement Armstrongs global HR programs in Canada (IDPs, Annual Progress Review, merit, recognition, etc.).
  • Partner with leaders to identify skills gaps and recommend learning solutions.
  • Drive employee engagement strategies and monitor progress through surveys and feedback mechanisms.

Core HR Administration & Compliance

  • Oversee day-to-day HR administration including HRIS records, payroll/benefits coordination, and employee inquiries.
  • Partner with the Total Rewards CoE to administer compensation and benefits programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, WSIB).
  • Maintain HR data accuracy, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Support leave management, policy updates, and employee documentation.

Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance on performance management, employee relations, and workplace issues.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend actions in line with company policy and legislation.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.

Special Projects & HR Initiatives

  • Lead or support cross-functional HR initiatives in workforce planning, leadership development, and change projects.
  • Provide workforce data and insights to influence decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; CHRP designation or progress toward CHRL preferred.
  • 68 years of progressive HR experience with a strong foundation in HR administration and compliance, plus experience in corporate HR business partnering.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, WSIB).
  • Experience with organizational design, change management, and leadership development preferred.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and consulting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with the confidence to influence leaders.
