Inventory Manager 1 Full-Time, Year-Round Opening

Legend Boats is looking for a motivated Inventory Manager to join our team full-time, year-round in Ontario. The Inventory Manager is responsible for managing the flow of materials, ensuring timely procurement, efficient inventory control, and seamless supply chain operations to support organizational goals. This role involves strategic planning, purchasing, inventory management, and coordination with various departments.

Compensation

$80,000 $95,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field experience a requirement.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or inventory control.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., Salesforce, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) with a preference to SalesForce experience.
    • Strong data management and analytical skills for forecasting and cost analysis and ability to gather, analyze and interpret data in an effort to tactically perform the listed duties.
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of supply chain principles and logistics.
  • Certifications: Certifications like CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing Management

  • Supplier Selection and Negotiation: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery timelines. Negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms. Most suppliers but not including Serialized inventory.
  • Purchase Order Management: Create, review, and approve purchase orders, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and budget constraints.
  • Cost Optimization: Monitor market trends and supplier pricing to minimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, resolve disputes, and ensure consistent communication to support long-term partnerships.
  • Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with organizational policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.

Inventory Management

  • Inventory Planning: Forecast material requirements based on production schedules, sales forecasts, and historical data to maintain optimal inventory levels minimizing working capital wherever possible.
  • Inventory tagging, optimizing this process at all locations as well as optimizing the Inventory Nesting process, auditing of, control of and management of. The intent is to nest and tag assets in a logical fashion before and after Retail Sale and or Partner Boat Sales and all Finished and In-Process Serialized Inventory.
  • Stock Control: Oversee inventory tracking systems to monitor stock levels, prevent overstocking or stockouts, and ensure accurate records.
  • Cycle Counts and Audits: Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to verify stock accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Inventory Optimization: Implement just-in-time (JIT) or other inventory management strategies to reduce carrying costs and improve efficiency.
  • Obsolete Inventory Management: Identify and dispose of obsolete or excess inventory to minimize waste and free up storage space.

Supply Chain Coordination

  • Demand Planning: Collaborate with production, logistics, sales, and finance teams to align material availability with operational needs.
  • Logistics: Collaborate with logistics manager to ensure timely delivery of materials to production facilities or warehouses.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as supplier delays, market shortages, or geopolitical disruptions.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Team Management: Supervise purchasing and inventory staff, assign tasks, and provide training to enhance team performance at all Legend Factory Store locations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Set performance goals, evaluate team performance, and implement process improvements.
  • Daily Huddles and Weekly Meetings: Set daily and weekly goals, collaborate between locations to mitigate inventory ballooning by dynamically sharing inventory to the best of our ability.
  • One on Ones: Set daily/weekly/quarterly objectives utilizing the Scaling Up tools in concert with the Director of Operations to align with company objectives.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with production, quality control, and finance teams to ensure seamless operations.

Process Improvement and Reporting

  • Process Optimization: Develop, implement, and improve policies and procedures to streamline purchasing and inventory processes.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze purchasing and inventory data to generate reports on cost savings, inventory turnover, and supplier performance with the use of coordinated KPIs as concurred with the Director of Operations. These should be carve- outs from OPSP and Vision Summaries.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage inventory management software (e.g., ERP systems like SalesFore and others as assigned) to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Budget and Financial Oversight

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for purchasing and inventory operations, ensuring cost-effective decisions.
  • Cost Tracking: Monitor expenditures related to materials procurement and storage, reporting variances to senior management.
