The Village of Tansley Woods located in Burlington, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for an Art Therapist- Independent Contractor to join their team.

  • Position: Permanent Part Time
  • Hours: Approximately 88 Hours Monthly
  • Shifts: Varied Shifts

To be successful as our new Art Therapist, you will:

  • Be enrolled in or completed a Degree in Art Therapy or equivalent
  • Completed the required hours of internship
  • Be eligible for membership with the Canadian Art Therapy Association
  • Maintain personal professional Liability Insurance
  • Support our residents to be creative and express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment
  • Collaborate with the Recreation team to support our residents to learn, grow, find life purpose and meaning.

  • Encourage physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cognitive growth for residents

  • Be excited by our objectives, our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members

It would be an asset if our new Art Therapist has:

  • Previous experience working with seniors
  • Knowledge of therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve resident's well-being and holistic health
  • An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007
