Job Description

What you're responsible for:

  • Inspecting and sorting metal materials, such as aluminium, copper, steel, and alloys, according to established guidelines and specifications
  • Identifying and removing contaminants, non-recyclable items, and hazardous materials from the metal stream, ensuring the purity and quality of the recyclable metals
  • Separating different types of metals into designated bins or areas, following proper sorting procedures and ensuring compliance with recycling standards
  • Following all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including sorting stations, bins, and surrounding areas, to facilitate efficient sorting operations
  • Coordinating and communicating with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues or concerns
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and waste reduction, and provide suggestions to enhance sorting operations
  • Adhering to environmental regulations and company policies related to the handling, sorting, and disposal of metal materials
Qualifications

To join our team:

  • You have previous experience in a recycling facility or a similar environment is preferred
  • You are familiar with different types of metals and their distinguishing characteristics is a plus
  • You have the ability to quickly and accurately identify and sort various metal materials based on visual cues and provided guidelines
  • You are physically fit and have the ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
  • You have attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in metal sorting
  • You are able to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate in a team environment
  • You have strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
  • You are willing to adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and participate in safety training
