POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Finishing Assistant. This role is essential in preparing custom cabinetry and millwork for the finishing process, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship in every project. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to producing exceptional woodwork. On the job training is provided to employees and there are opportunities for growth and development within the company.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job is a full-time position, with the hours of 7:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Work will be conducted indoors. Finishing Assistants are often exposed to loud noises, contaminants, fumes and hazardous work equipment around the shop, making PPE and safe work procedures required. Employees must be able to stand for long periods of time and make repetitive movements, such as bending and twisting. Employees must be compliant with health and safety standards and promote a positive work environment. A full-benefits package is offered following the probationary period. The Starting wage for this position is $20-$23 depending on relevant experience.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Surface Preparation – Sand, prepare,clean, and inspect raw wood components to prepare them for finishing.
  • Staining & Sealing – Apply stains, sealers, and other treatments to enhance wood grain and match design specifications.
  • Wood Repair – Identify and repair imperfections such as knots, cracks, and dents using fillers, putty, and other techniques.
  • Quality Control – Ensure all pieces meet company standards before moving them to the finishing stage.
  • Tool & Equipment Use – Safely operate sanders, spray equipment, and other finishing tools.
  • Work Area Maintenance – Keep the finishing area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Scheduling – Adhere to deadlines for production schedules, maintain organization and cleanliness.
  • Safety – Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Assist with other shop duties as needed.

RequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience in wood finishing, sanding, or cabinetry is an asset but not required—training is provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to use and handle tools safely.
  • Physical stamina to stand, lift, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and processes.
  • High attention to details, taking pride in work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines on project work
