Municipal Real Estate Associate Mid-Level

A prominent law firm in Southern Ontario (Waterloo Region) is seeking a mid-level associate to join its established Real Estate and Municipal Law groups. With a deep history in the community, the firm plays a key role in the regions most significant land development and commercial real estate transactions.

This role offers a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of real estate and land use law supporting sophisticated clients through every stage of the development lifecycle, from acquisition to regulatory approvals and final disposition.

Key Areas of Work:

  • Structuring and negotiating commercial and residential real estate transactions
  • Advising on purchase and sale agreements, leasing, financing, and mortgage transactions
  • Supporting large-scale development matters, often in collaboration with the municipal/planning team
  • Navigating zoning, land use, and regulatory frameworks with both institutional and private stakeholders
  • Advising on title, encumbrances, and due diligence for development lands

What Theyre Looking For:

  • 4-7+ years of real estate law experience, ideally with exposure to both commercial and land development files
  • Familiarity with Ontario land use and planning regimes (Planning Act, zoning bylaws, etc.)
  • Ability to manage files independently and collaborate across practice groups
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and client management skills
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven approach

This position is ideal for a lawyer who thrives on sophisticated real estate matters with municipal dimensions whether structuring complex deals, guiding clients through regulatory hurdles, or supporting long-term development initiatives across the Waterloo Region and beyond.

Compensation will reflect experience, impact, and long-term potential. Inquiries remain strictly confidential.
