An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Corporate/Commercial Litigator to join a growing, innovative legal team in Hamilton. In this role, you will manage a diverse range of corporate commercial litigation matters, from disputes over business contracts to shareholder agreements, mergers, and acquisitions. You will be responsible for managing cases from inception through to resolution, working closely with clients and senior partners to provide exceptional legal services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead corporate commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, shareholder remedies, debt collection, enforcement actions, business disputes, and estate litigation.
- Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation across various industries.
- Conduct in-depth legal research, case analysis, and prepare pleadings, motions, and legal opinions.
- Independently manage cases from start to finish, including court appearances, discovery, and settlement negotiations, while receiving strong mentorship and support.
- Collaborate with the litigation team on complex and high-stakes cases.
- Provide strategic legal advice on dispute resolution and corporate governance best practices.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4+ years of litigation experience, including Superior Court trials and motions.
- Proven courtroom advocacy skills and experience handling complex legal disputes.
- Expertise in contract law, shareholder disputes, debt enforcement, business, and estate litigation.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and client management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple files with a strategic approach.
- Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to build and grow a practice.
