Your Impact

The Vice President of Finance and Administration plays a central role in supporting the achievement of Jack.orgs nonprofit mission and long-term sustainability. This position is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, operational effectiveness, and strategic risk management across the organization.

By overseeing financial operations, managing audits, optimizing operational efficiency, and building strong data management and risk mitigation processes, the VP ensures that Jack.org continues to operate with transparency, innovation, and resilience. This role is critical in maintaining our commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship and in advancing the organizations strategic objectives.

You will serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors, guiding high-level decision-making while also ensuring that systems and infrastructure support staff at every level of the organization in delivering impact.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide direction to business planning and financial analysis to support long-term goals
  • Enhance financial and business models aligned with organizational sustainability
  • Implement procedures to improve internal controls and operational efficiency
  • Identify and execute strategies to improve process effectiveness and data use

Financial Management

  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, statements, and variance analyses
  • Lead performance reviews, audits, and investment strategies
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and operational/strategic financial plans in collaboration with the Senior Management Team
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and accounting standards
  • Provide financial insights to the CEO and Board of Directors

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute the organizational strategic plan
  • Contribute to long-term growth and sustainability
  • Analyze risks, trends, and opportunities
  • Lead strategic workshops and ensure DEI integration in planning
  • Track and evaluate progress against organizational goals

Operational Oversight

  • Lead operations, including IT, HR, risk management, and facilities
  • Build a respectful, accountable culture across internal teams
  • Oversee cybersecurity, software integration, and technological advancement
  • Guide the development of data systems and reporting tools
  • Strengthen vendor relationships and resource utilization
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges

Board & CEO Support

  • Collaborate closely with the Audit, Finance & Risk Committee and the Board of Directors
  • Provide strategic insights, performance data, and risk assessments to support governance

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • 10+ years in a senior financial leadership role, including 5+ years in a nonprofit environment
  • Extensive experience in nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting, grant compliance, and donor-restricted funds
  • Strong understanding of CRA regulations, including T3010 filings, donation receipting, and GST/HST rebates
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial systems and donor CRMs (e.g., Raisers Edge, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud)
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams (finance, HR, IT, risk)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software
  • Broad business acumen and operational leadership experience
