What you will do

Leveraging a strong foundation in leadership, software development, and technical strategy, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and executive leadership to define product requirements and drive the development of innovative solutions and software products. You will lead cross-functional efforts to ensure that products align with business goals and deliver measurable value.

In addition to product development, you will play a pivotal role in customer support, ensuring clients receive timely, effective resolutions to technical challenges. You provide expert guidance to help clients maximize the value of their systems, fostering long-term relationships and driving customer success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and support an exceptional user experience for Blackstone's clients by developing innovative product solutions. Collaborate with internal and client stakeholders to understand, anticipate, and exceed their requirements, delivering high-value, tailored solutions.
  • Solutions include all aspects of the product suite including hardware requirements, software dev, integration requirements, setup of firewalls, servers, and security hardening, ensuring they meet Blackstone and client-specific requirements.
  • Lead the strategy, development, implementation, and management of Blackstones IT back-end technology, including servers, software applications, and enterprise network. Ensure the architecture is reliable, secure, cost-effective, and client focused.
  • Align the IoT team with product objectives, ensuring clarity and alignment with Blackstones long-term technology roadmap.
  • Provide clear product and technical specifications, direction, utilize resources in the IoT team. Ensure the requirements, design and development process is well-communicated and understood.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure successful implementation, maintenance, and reliable operation of back-end systems and deployed solutions. Uphold standards for system quality, performance, and availability.
  • Support DevOps, backup procedures, troubleshoot issues, and provide resolutions.
  • Mentor junior architects and engineers, contributing to architectural governance and best practices. Foster a culture of engagement, innovation and problem solving.
  • Document all aspects of Blackstones systems and applications thoroughly for internal and external stakeholders and future maintenance.
  • Develop high-level product specifications with a focus on system integration and feasibility.
  • Lead software development projects, forming and managing a team of developers. Assign duties, create timelines, perform cost analysis, and manage budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and manage performance for direct reports and the architecture team, using metrics to ensure high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Engage in industry-wide activities and collaborate with partners or research groups, continuously monitor and evaluate emerging technological trends, tools, and methodologies. Analyze their potential impact on current and future solutions and proactively provide strategic insights and recommendations to ensure our products and systems remain innovative, competitive, and aligned with evolving market demands.
  • Act as a thought leader within the organization by sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and driving the adoption of forward-thinking technologies that enhance the value we deliver to client
  • Follow all company safety procedures when performing work on or offsite
  • Participate in yearly performance reviews, quarterly feedback sessions and weekly 1:1

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, demonstrating a solid foundation in technical knowledge and principles.
  • Management Experience: Possess at least 10 years of management and leadership experience within a technical or software development organization, showcasing a proven track record of guiding teams and projects to success.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership, project management, time management, and problem-solving abilities, essential for driving projects and teams forward effectively.
  • Product Development Experience: Have over 7 years of experience in navigating the design, development, release cycle, and delivery of technology products to both market and internal stakeholders, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Successful Delivery Record: Maintain a history of successfully delivering products and applications as an individual contributor, team leader, and development manager, highlighting technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Technical Understanding: Exhibit a deep understanding of the technology and software development cycle, including various methodologies such as waterfall and agile, applicable to software, systems, and SaaS environments.
  • SaaS and Cloud Experience: Have experience managing the development of SaaS and cloud-based applications, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Show broad experience with software development tools, technologies, and languages, with the ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Strategic Thinking: Be a strategic thinker with extensive experience that can be applied in cross-disciplinary discussions, contributing to innovative solutions and strategies.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Display a willingness to dive into software and technical issues, proving to be a reliable problem solver in complex situations.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of summarizing and explaining complex issues and technical problems effectively and efficiently.
