Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Estimator to join our commercial construction team in Calgary. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for mid-to-large-scale commercial projects, including new builds, renovations, and tenant improvements. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methodologies, cost analysis, and project risk assessment, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities:
· Analyze drawings, specifications, and other project documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
· Prepare detailed take-offs and pricing for all scopes of work across multiple disciplines.
· Lead the estimating process from concept to final tender, including budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering.
· Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
· Collaborate with project management teams to develop project strategies and execution plans.
· Identify cost-saving opportunities and advise on constructability issues and alternatives.
· Maintain and update historical cost databases, pricing libraries, and estimating tools.
· Participate in bid reviews, negotiations, and client presentations when required.
· Ensure compliance with company estimating procedures, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
· 8 to 10 years of progressive estimating experience in the commercial construction sector.
· Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
· Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Timberline, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
· Solid understanding of local construction costs, labour markets, and trade practices.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
· Ability to lead multiple estimates simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
· Membership in or eligibility for associations such as PQS, CIQS, or Gold Seal certification is considered an asset.
