Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Carpenter with 3–5 years of experience to join our growing construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry tasks including framing, drywall installation, finishing work, and the construction of structural components. Projects range from residential and commercial builds to modular and restoration work.
This role requires a strong understanding of construction techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Modular construction experience and the willingness to travel across Alberta and Western Canada are valuable assets.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform framing, drywall, cabinetry, trim, and other carpentry duties on varied project types
- Read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents
- Build and install walls, floors, roofs, windows, doors, and finishes to code and specification
- Assist with modular unit assembly, alignment, and installation on-site
- Work with other trades to coordinate installation and integration
- Mentor apprentices and junior carpenters, promoting safe and high-quality workmanship
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OHS standards
- Ensure tools and equipment are used properly and maintained regularly
- Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding job progress, delays, or material needs
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent experience
- 3 – 5 years' experience in residential/commercial carpentry; modular experience an asset
- Proficient in blueprint reading, layout, and advanced carpentry techniques
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction safety, and finish standards
- Capable of supervising or leading small crews when needed
- Required: CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 certifications
- Preferred: First Aid, Fall Protection, and other relevant safety training
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must provide personal hand and power tools (specialty tools provided by employer)
- Willingness to travel to job sites across Alberta and Western Canada
Work Conditions:
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- May involve heights, confined spaces, and physically demanding tasks
- Exposure to noisy, dusty, or uneven terrain typical of active construction sites
- Variable hours with occasional overtime to meet deadlines
