The Opportunity:

PTW is looking for a Structural Drafting Checker to support our steel fabrication division. This is a full-time permanent position working on-site Monday-Friday. If you have previous experience working with steel, we want to hear from you!

A Day in the Life...

• Responsible for the quality assurance of models/documents on assigned projects created by the drafting department throughout the drafting process, ensuring compliance with contract documents, project specifications, and engineering requirements.
• Checks Drawings for dimensional accuracy to construction documents and general conformance to specifications, application of project details, standard operating procedure, and engineering requirements.
• Checks early material takeoffs for procurement, as well as production material sheets and final order quantities.
• Checks erection/site material sheets for conformance to design and drawings, as well as for accurate quantities.
• Checks steel tickets for accuracy to erection drawings, formatting, and clarity.

Experience Requirements:

• 2+ years of previous experience performing checking and/or drafting work. A combination of education and work experience may be considered.
• Proficiency with Tekla or similar modeling software a strong asset.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and other collaborative applications
• Proficiency in reading and understanding construction documents and fabrication drawings.

Other Requirements:

• Must have own transportation as facility is not currently transit accessible
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and be resourceful.
• Ability to work independently or with a collaborative team
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail with demonstrated ability to produce high quality work
