About Us

The qathet Division of Family Practice (qDoFP) is a non-profit society committed to improving primary care for the benefit of patients and providers in the qathet region. We are one of 35 Divisions across BC, supported by the Family Practice Services Committeea joint initiative of the BC Ministry of Health and Doctors of BC.

Founded in 2010, qDoFP is a collaborative network of family physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialist members. We work closely with community interest-holders to support innovative, community-driven solutions to primary health care.

Board Opportunities 2025

We are currently seeking two (2) Community Board Directors to begin a two-year term following appointment at our 2025 AGM.

We invite applications from individuals who share our values and bring diverse perspectives and experiences, particularly in the following areas:

  • Member engagement and strategic communications
  • Partnership and community engagement (including experience with health authorities or the Ministry of Health)
  • Financial oversight and risk management

Board Role and Responsibilities

As a governance board operating under the Policy Governance Model, qDoFP Directors are responsible for:

  • Overseeing the organization's strategic direction and mission
  • Selecting, supporting, and evaluating the Executive Director
  • Ensuring sound fiscal management and legal compliance
  • Approving projects and initiatives aligned with the strategic plan
  • Managing organizational risk and monitoring performance
  • Cultivating the values and culture of the organization
  • Representing the organization publicly and building trust with members

Directors also serve on board committees such as Finance & Audit, Nominations, or Compliance.

Time Commitment & Term

  • Board meets 6 times per year (3 hours per meeting), with additional meetings if required
  • Directors are expected to join at least one standing committee
  • Meetings are held in-person with virtual options available
  • Terms are 2 years, renewable

Compensation

Directors are compensated in accordance with current policy.
