Who we need

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Product Modelling and CAD Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Product Room. You will manage a small team of CAD modellers and sample developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality digital models and prototypes that meet client and production needs.

This is a hands-on, collaborative role that blends technical expertise with workflow planning and continuous improvement. You will lead modelling and reverse engineering efforts using SolidWorks, optimize processes, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and uphold quality standards.

This is an onsite role based out of our Progress Avenue headquarters.

What is in it for you

Impact and innovation. You will play a critical role in the product manufacturing process with every team, depending on your meticulous, detailed, and highly accurate rendering of the product model. Your contributions will directly impact product quality, production timelines, and cost-effectiveness.

Technical skills development and influence. You will have opportunities to optimize processes, introduce best practices, advance your skills with cutting-edge tools and approaches, and grow your experience as a people and process leader.

Career advancement. As we expand our client base, scale our operations, and embrace cutting-edge technologies, you will gain hands-on experience in a growing industry. We are committed to investing in both people and systems, providing you with opportunities for a rewarding and long-term career.

As our new Product Modelling and CAD Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead a team.
You will develop samples, overseeing and directly creating precise CAD models and reverse engineering based on samples. You will oversee the work of product modellers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You will provide technical guidance and training related to digital product modelling processes and procedures.
  • Manage resources. You will develop and maintain systems to track the location and status of all products. You will ensure adequate resources are available in the product room to meet the needs and timelines of all active projects.
  • Collaborate. You will consult with project managers to establish and evaluate assignment requests, deliverables, and priorities. You will ensure seamless communication and coordination across departments to support project milestones.
  • Prioritize quality. You will implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections to maintain high standards of product quality. You will identify opportunities for process improvements, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure safety and compliance. You will uphold all company safety, quality, and environmental policies. You will report any health and safety concerns to management and contribute to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

You have:

  • The experience. You have a background in Industrial Design, Drafting, Engineering or a related field, along with experience in product modelling. You have a strong understanding of how a product-manufacturing environment operates, a high attention to detail and an understanding of design and manufacturing processes. You are meticulous and have a commitment to delivering high-quality work products.
  • The technical skills. You have an engineers mindset and a strong grasp of how things are built. You can quickly understand product structure, develop prototypes, and reverse engineer physical samples. You are highly proficient in SolidWorks and familiar with other design tools such as Photoshop and 3D Studio MAX. You have hands-on experience with equipment like paper-cutting printers, scanners (including coding to support scan quality), and ideally, 3D printers.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are comfortable collaborating across departments and presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Your organizational and project management abilities enable you to effectively manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives to completion.

What you can expect from the interview process:

  • A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role, the teams culture and your experience.
  • An on-site interview with the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager, and a member of our HR team. You will have a chance to share your experience and ask and answer questions about 3D CAD modelling and product drafting. This includes a 30-minute technical assessment on SolidWorks.
