Who we need
Reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Manager, Operations and Security. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead and manage our IT infrastructure and security operations. You will apply your expertise in IT operations, cybersecurity, and team management to ensure that our systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives. You will lead and develop our high-performing team, optimizing the IT operations and security function, defining accountabilities, shaping team deliverables, and establishing best practices across a growing global business.
This is a full-time, hybrid role working 3 - 4 days per week onside in Scarborough.
Whats in it for you:
Leadership. This is a chance to influence the strategy, execution, and team in IT operations and security across a global business. You will manage infrastructure, system administration, service delivery, and cybersecurity. You will mentor and develop a growing team that includes a System Administrator and an IT Operations and Security Administrator. You will have direct support from the Vice President, Information Technology as you build and formalize the function. This is a rare opportunity to establish foundational processes, guide change, and lead the roadmap for future-state IT capabilities.
Impact. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our infrastructure, operations and security functions. You will identify gaps, assess risk, prioritize needs, and propose technology solutions that support our growth and enhance our resilience. You will help drive the shift from a predominantly on-premise environment to a more hybrid model, with the chance to influence strategy and execute enterprise-wide change.
Growth. Our organization is scaling globally and investing in technology with the support of our executive team. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and present to the executive team. You will gain exposure and influence as your ideas come to life, contributing to projects that extend beyond traditional IT into operational technology and innovation.
As our new Senior IT Manager, Operations and Security, you will:
- Lead IT operations. You will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of IT infrastructure and system administration, ensuring high availability, efficiency, and alignment with business needs. You will ensure IT services meet performance standards and service level agreements. You will manage service tickets and track resolutions, implementing improvements to optimize workflows.
- Manage and grow a team. You will directly manage a System Administrator and an IT Operations and Security Administrator. You will provide mentorship, set goals, and build a high-performance culture. You will assess the capabilities of your team and the technologies in place, then identify training and process needs to strengthen performance and accountability.
- Oversee cybersecurity. You will develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect organizational data and assets. You will lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate risk through tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection. You will manage incident response, ensure compliance with global regulatory standards, and monitor security metrics.
- Assess, prioritize, and build. In the first three months, you will focus on understanding the lay of the land: the people, the technology, and the processes. You will assess the current state of our infrastructure and security capabilities, identify gaps, and establish your roadmap and priorities. You will share your observations with the Vice President and validate alignment before moving forward with execution.
- Drive process and performance improvement. You will enhance IT workflows by introducing best practices and driving the adoption of ITIL-based frameworks. You will implement new tools and ensure documentation is maintained for systems, incidents, and standard operating procedures.
- Support strategic planning and transformation. You will collaborate with senior leadership to align IT and security strategies with business goals. You will evaluate and recommend technology solutions, develop business cases, and help present initiatives to the executive team. You will support the transition of selected on-premise infrastructure to the cloud and contribute to long-term planning for operational technology integration.
- Manage vendors and resources. You will oversee relationships with external service providers, negotiate contracts, and ensure third-party performance aligns with business needs. You will manage departmental budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Monitor, report, and communicate. You will prepare and deliver regular updates to stakeholders and senior management, including performance metrics, project status reports, and risk assessments. You will document findings and recommendations with clarity and accuracy.
You have:
- The experience. You have a bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. You have at least ten years of progressive experience in IT operations and cybersecurity, with five years or more in a leadership role.
