Reporting to: Director of Student Services

Salary:

UNDER REVIEW - Classification 10, $27.96 - $28.83 per hour, as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees are provided an additional $0.58/hour in lieu of benefits, and 6% vacation pay, for all regular hours worked.

Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Library Technician is responsible for classifying and organizing the College-wide library collection (physical and electronic) and maintaining the College-wide integrated library system. Duties include ordering and receiving library materials for all campus libraries, verifying accuracy of invoices in order to reconcile monthly VISA statements, communication with library vendors in the acquisition of library materials, and provide campus library services.

Hours of work will be M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (35 hours per week).

Qualifications:

Required:

Recognized Library and Information Technology Diploma program is required. Preference will be given to someone with a diploma and a minimum of 2-3 years related experience. The ideal candidate would have training and experience in RDA Cataloguing plus SITKA Evergreen ILS experience. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, combined with a demonstrated ability to use tact and discretion while working in a public service environment, are essential. This person must be able to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team, demonstrate attention to detail, establish priorities, and achieve deadlines. Knowledge of information services technology including the ability to use the internet and standard electronic reference resources, as well as experience using an integrated library system, cataloguing and acquisition is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
