Mechanical Technologist

Location: London or Kitchener, ON, Canada

Our engineering firm is seeking a motivated and experienced Mechanical Technologist to join our London or Kitchener office. The Mechanical Technologist III will support the Mechanical Engineering Department by performing tasks related to mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, or fire protection) drafting and design for commercial, residential, and institutional projects, with a primary focus on High-Rise Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURB).

Working closely with the mechanical design and engineering team, the candidate will help produce drawings and designs for permit and construction. The ideal candidate can work independently and as part of a collaborative project group and will be encouraged to mentor and lead junior team members throughout the design process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design team through mechanical building system design and preparation of drawings for engineering review

  • Design mechanical systems and components; 3D modeling may be required

  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams and other disciplines

  • Assist with analysis, evaluations, and design implementation for mechanical systems

  • Work through construction-phase support issues with both the design team and contractors

  • Provide and accept technical guidance from engineers, technologists, and other project staff

  • Perform occasional site visits as required

  • Support other duties as assigned by Mechanical Leads or the Mechanical Division Manager

Qualifications:
  • 812 years of mechanical design experience in commercial and multi-unit residential buildings preferred

  • Diploma in Mechanical Technology, Architectural Technology, or related discipline

  • Strong organizational and troubleshooting abilities, with a track record of navigating project challenges

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages simultaneously

  • Excellent attention to detail, with a structured and consistent approach to work

  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively

  • Adaptable and flexible with shifting priorities and deadlines

  • Skilled at balancing concurrent responsibilities while maintaining high quality

  • Committed to continual personal and professional growth

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; experience with Revit is an asset

This is a full-time, in-office position. We are committed to maintaining a positive and supportive work culture, built on collaboration, respect, and professional growth.

Youll enjoy a structured 40-hour workweek, with standard hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and an early finish at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays.
